Addressing Rising Temperatures with Proactive Solutions

Renzo R. Guinto | July 19, 2024

In his op-ed, Renzo R. Guinto, 2016 New Voices and 2024 Advanced Advocacy Program Fellow, discusses the negative health effects extreme heat waves have on global populations, especially in South-East Asia where record highs have reached 122 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Celsius). He focuses on the importance of proactive resiliency in policymaking if countries are expected to withstand the life-threatening temperatures. Guinto touches on topics such as housing, transportation, and a focus on the most vulnerable groups in a society who will feel the effects of increasing temperatures and the fallout that may come from this if not addressed through adapting programming.
