Dr. William Jackson is a community-driven strategist investigating practices that position Black Genius to harness imagination in pursuit of liberation for all. As the Founder and “Chief Dreamer” of Village of Wisdom (VOW), he has built a movement rooted in community-driven research, convening, and art—all designed to amplify Black parent power and dismantle racial bias in education. VOW systematically works to ensure that Black learners are consistently exposed to culturally affirming learning environments, where their genius is recognized and cultivated.
A former teacher and current parent, Will holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology, with a research focus on how Black parents shape their children’s racial identity and educational experiences. His leadership has fueled local transformation and shaped national efforts to ensure Black learners thrive in ideal learning environments. For his impact, he has been awarded numerous national and international fellowships, including Ashoka, Echoing Green, The 1954 Project’s Luminary Award, and Camelback Ventures.
