Monica Hernandez Sanchez is a data driven strategist developing a spectrum of care for individuals, families, and communities impacted by behavioral health-related complexities. She is the Chief Executive Officer for Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas and in her role leads the organization in its mission to foster a culture of behavioral wellness by providing age-appropriate, consumer-driven, and evidence-based services. Monica’s experience in identifying and filling in gaps specific to psychosocial needs in social service settings extends over twenty-four years. Through program development and collaborative efforts, she has enhanced behavioral health-related support services and resources in south Texas for more than fifteen of those years. The first program Monica developed was an undergraduate student and remains in existence to date. The support made possible by the first program and those that have followed serve as reminders to her that working collaboratively and identifying what works yields long-lasting impacts. Monica is credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with board approved supervisor status; is an Advanced Certified Prevention Specialist, and certified as a Peer Support Specialist Supervisor in the state of Texas. She graduated with a Master of Science in Social Work and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Texas-Pan American (now the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley).
