Gulrez is an independent researcher passionate about health, environment, climate, and development. He along with other partners helped develop India’s first heat preparedness plan in Ahmedabad, India. He worked as a Senior Fellow with the forecasting team in the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington. Prior to that he was an Assistant Policy Analyst at the non-profit RAND Corporation and an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Public Health, part of the Public Health Foundation of India. He earned his Public Policy PhD from the Pardee RAND Graduate School, MPH from Universities of Sheffield, Copenhagen and EHESP, Rennes with an internship at WHO’s Geneva headquarters. He is also a physician with MBBS and MD (Community Medicine) degrees from AMU, Aligarh.
