Kassahun Bilcha, MD, is currently a resident physician at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. He served as a Clinical Director of Gondar University Hospital in Gondar, Ethiopia, and was also the department head and associate professor at the Department of Dermatology and Venereolgy. Dr. Bilcha was previously the chief resident at Addis Ababa University, Faculty of Medicine. He is author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed publications, and has received a certificate of recognition from Gondar University and the Developing Country Dermatologist Award from the Society of Pediatric Dermatology. He was Department of States’ sponsored Fulbright Fellow at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington D.C.
Kassahun came from a poor family, and eventually worked his way through medical school. Dr. Bilcha received his doctor of medicine from Gondar University, College of Medicine and Health Sciences. He has received a Certificate of Leprosy Essentials and Clinical Dermatology from the All African Leprosy Rehabilitation and Treatment Center, a Dermatovenereology Specialization Certificate from Addis Ababa University, and a Certificate of Cosmetic Dermatology and Tropical Dermatology from the Center for Research and Training in Skin Diseases and Leprosy at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran.
