Jorge Rodriguez is a family advocate and social worker dedicated to supporting colonias—rural communities along the U.S.-Mexico border—by mobilizing resources to help families thrive. Jorge’s formative years as a migrant farm worker who traveled across the country each year to plant and pack vegetables shaped a career focused on community transformation, family empowerment, and solutions-driven leadership. Jorge currently leads as Director of the Buckner Family Hope Center in Peñitas and Donna, Texas, where he oversees programming and operations and collaborates with community stakeholders to serve indigent clients seeking generational transformation as he once did. Jorge has expanded services to a satellite site in Donna, Texas to broaden the colonias community’s access to free parenting, financial literacy, and job readiness classes as well as professional mental health counseling, youth sports camps, and a community garden. Jorge has over a decade of social work experience serving rural Latino populations in the Rio Grande Valley. He continues to seek opportunities that help families improve their resilience and showcase the strengths of our local communities.
