Clare Byarugaba, a 2018 New Voices Fellow, is featured in a first-ever documentary-style series that highlights five human rights defenders. The series, established by U.S. Senator Ben Cardin Chair of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, aims to elevate voices of those fighting for dignity and equality for all. Clare is featured for her advocacy for the Ugandan LGBTQI+ community and speaks out against Uganda’s recent passing of a what she refers to as an anti-gay law.
